Beautiful and comfortable rooms right on Main Street, just a hop, skip and a jump away from the shops in town! The owners are delightful and they're thoughtfully accomodating and friendly.
My wife and I stayed here recently for a weekend, and found it to be very comfortable, with excellent breakfasts and great restaurants for the other meals. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed comfortable and sleep supportive. It was a homelike experience, and as such, afforded wonderful "family" interaction between the guests and the host and hostess. It was a most pleasant experience and we not only WOULD come back, we PLAN to come back. Those detractors above seem to want everything "just so" and the proprietors to be at "their beck and call'. Well these people open their home to you, yes for a fee, but B&Bs traditionally are OLD houses which are continually in the process of being upgraded. Yes, there's stuff to be fixed, just like home; and yes, people have things to do, just like home; and yes, its NOT perfect, but this is Vermont, and its just like home. That is why we prefer B&Bs and that is why we love THIS place! If you want everything to perfection, go to one of the chains. You won't find it there, either, but they won't care.
I would highly recommend staying at the Emerson Guest House if you are traveling through this part of Vermont. Bill and his wife are gracious hosts. The rooms are clean, comfortable and well decorated. Vergennes is a nice town with lots of great restaurants and very walkable to all these establishments as well as all the little shops.
Me and my boyfriend had such a great time staying here! The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom was clean, the breakfast and the service was amazing. I loved it and would recommend Emerson B&B to my friends! Matter of fact we will be back next month!
